Begin the day with a scenic walk through Debrecen, one of the most vivid and coziest nooks in Hungary. Visit the lovely Petőfi Square, and the famous Piac Street (which holds many sights including the Alföld Palace, the City Hall, the Csokonai Theater, and the Small White Church). Stroll down Hatvan Street to the Bishop’s Palace, and visit the nearby St. Andrew Church, Red Tower and Reformed College. End the tour with a visit to the beautiful Great Church, whose imposing, bright yellow facade and famous twin clock towers have become a much-loved symbol of the city, and to the Déri Museum, in which Mihály Munkácsi's famous Christ trilogy is exhibited.
Say goodbye to Debrecen in Nagyerdő ("Great Forest”), and head over to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Hortobágy National Park. Visit the famous Nine-Span-Bridge, the Herdsmen’s Museum, and the Mátai Stud, take a horse carriage tour in the "puszta," and get introduced to the agricultural traditions of he region.
