描述

Book your entry ticket today to Harcourt Arboretum, and explore over 130 acres of the world’s rare and endangered trees.
Explore Harcourt Arboretum and discover some of the world’s rarest and most endangered trees growing alongside tranquil British woodland and open meadows in over 130 acres.

Discover great nature paths through wildflower meadows and under huge pines and some of the oldest redwoods in the UK.

The Native Woodland showcases the different types of native woodland we have in the UK. Bluebell Wood is a mature oak woodland, where the remains of some ancient specimens have been left to decay naturally, creating a rich environment. Visit between late April and mid-May and enjoy a living carpet of native English bluebells, or enjoy the peaceful and cooling shade of the woodland on a hot summer's day. In the lighter and airier Lime Wood, you will find some of the tallest limes in the UK. Palmer's Lets is home to over 13,000 native tree species, including oak, lime, hornbeam, beech and yew. This is a quiet spot, and is active with species such as hares, deer and stoats. Don't miss the vista to the distant crest of Wittenham Clumps from the top of the hill near Lime Wood.

Our 67 acres of parkland and wildflower meadows provide a glorious open space for you to explore. From early May there are many delicate wildflowers to be found among the grasses - an ideal space to enjoy a picnic.

The Pinetum and Serpentine Ride is the oldest part of the Arboretum, dating back to the 1830s. Between May and August, this area is filled with a spectrum of dramatic colours while our rhododendrons and azaleas are in flower. The grassy paths take you on a winding route among beautiful glades which include collections of flowering trees and shrubs. In this area of the Arboretum, you will find a wide variety of non-native species, including many stunning trees such as magnolias and rare conifers. The giant redwoods are some of the oldest specimens in the UK, having arrived from California in the late 1850s.

From spectacular bluebell displays to vibrant autumnal colours the Arboretum has something to offer all year round. If you're visiting in the summer, our Bluebell Wood and Lime Wood are wonderful, cool and shady spots - the perfect place for a weekend stroll among the dappled sunlight, under a verdant canopy.

The Arboretum glows with colour through autumn. The Acer Glade is awash with vivid reds and rich golds, in Lime Wood the leaves create a rich yellow canopy and flutter gently to the ground, while in Bluebell Wood the bracken is a rich copper. Along Holly Walk you’ll find bright berries amongst the greenery.

There is always plenty of wildlife to be seen at the Arboretum and winter is no exception. Keep an eye out for deer, hares, birds of prey, badgers and foxes, we’ve seen it all! If you’re lucky enough to visit on a snowy day when the woodlands are their most enchanting you may even spot some animal tracks.
