Day 1: El Djem, Matmata, Tamazret, and Douz

Start your adventure with breakfast at your hotel, followed by pickup from Tunis, Hammamet, Sousse, or Monastir. Our first stop is El Djem to explore one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world. Marvel at its grandeur and learn about its historical significance.

Next, we head to Matmata, known for its unique troglodyte dwellings. Enjoy a warm welcome at a local homestay with rosemary tea, fresh bread, olive oil, and honey. Visit Sidi Idriss, a troglodyte hotel used in Star Wars, showcasing traditional underground architecture.

Continue to Douz, the gateway to the Sahara, with a stop in Tamazret, a Berber village. Enjoy a coffee break and some free time to explore. Arrive in Douz, renowned for its vast oasis, where you’ll stay overnight at a Sahara camp. Experience traditional bread cooked on the sand and mint tea, and, if lucky, a clear starry night.

Day 2: Tozeur, Ong Djemel, and Kairouan

Wake up to a desert sunrise and breakfast by the dunes. Journey to Tozeur, crossing the Chott El Djerid, a lake steeped in legend. In Tozeur, explore the medina, or opt for an extra bike ride through the palm groves or a visit to the Dar Chéraït museum.

Next, visit Chebika, an oasis nestled in the mountains known for its picturesque scenery and Berber village. Continue to Tamerza to see its waterfall, then to Midès, famous for its canyons. Enjoy a local lunch at a homestay.

In the afternoon, embark on an exciting dune adventure in Ong Djemel, traversing the old rally tracks to discover Star Wars filming locations and the village of Mos Espa. Conclude the day with a visit to Kairouan, the holy city. Take a guided walking tour of the old Medina, visit the Great Mosque, and see the Aghlabid basins, ancient engineering marvels for water conservation.
