DAY 1: Moshi to Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Your adventure begins with a drive from Moshi to the Machame Gate, located at the base of Kilimanjaro’s majestic slopes. After registration, you'll start the ascent through the lush rainforest, filled with towering trees, vibrant flowers, and the calls of exotic birds. The trail can be muddy and slippery, but the dense canopy offers shade and a serene atmosphere. After approximately 5-7 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at Machame Camp (2,835 meters), where you'll enjoy a well-earned rest, surrounded by the mountain’s breathtaking vistas.

DAY 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
On the second day, the landscape changes dramatically as you ascend out of the rainforest and into the heather and moorland zone. The trail becomes steeper, and you’ll encounter rocky terrain as Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak starts to come into view. This day’s trek covers 4-6 hours, with a steady climb towards the Shira Plateau. As you reach Shira Camp (3,750 meters), the vast plains below and the stunning views of Mount Meru in the distance provide a memorable backdrop for your evening rest under the stars.

DAY 3: Shira Camp to Lava Tower and Descent
The final day takes you further along the Machame Route towards Lava Tower, a prominent rock formation at 4,630 meters. Although the primary goal isn’t to reach the summit, this day allows for essential acclimatization as you reach higher altitudes. After lunch near Lava Tower, you’ll descend back to Shira Camp, following the “climb high, sleep low” principle to prepare your body for higher altitudes. This descent offers a chance to explore the diverse landscapes of Kilimanjaro before your trekking adventure concludes. A drive back to Moshi awaits, marking the end of an exhilarating journey.
