Start the journey from Ella / Bandarawela. Embark on a thrilling safari by entering into YALA & encounter leopards, elephants, and more in the wilderness. Drop off in Hiriketiya/ Tangalle/ Dikwella.
In this tour, we are aiming to be in the YALA National Park at dawn or dusk. These are two of the best times of the day, which gives you the highest chance of spotting the elusive Sri Lankan leopards, which is a leopard subspecies native to Sri Lanka. With approximately a hundred individual leopards, YALA is recognized as the National Park with the highest leopard density in the world.
What happens on a typical day on safari?
A. Pick-up time at 3.00 a.m. - from the Ella/ Bandarawela/ Wellawaya area.
All pick up times - (Morning Safari - 3.00 a.m. / Afternoon Safari - if you want to have lunch before the safari select 11.15 a.m. / else 11.45 a.m.)
The time in the Morning Safari (3.00 a.m.) is the most recommended. Please adjust the times in the itinerary according to the pickup time you select.
Transfer vehicle is an Air-conditioned car or minivan with luggage space and on SHARING BASIS.
B. Get down from the transfer vehicle and get into the SHARING SAFARI VEHICLE. - at Tissamaharama at around 5.30 a.m.
You can safely leave your luggage in the taxi, while you are enjoying the safari.
Here, you can have 30 minutes break to have lunch before the safari by selecting the 11.15 a.m. pickup time in Afternoon Safari.

C. Morning Wildlife Safari/ 1st Game Drive (Starting at 6.00 a.m.)
D. Break at Patanangala Beach in YALA National Park (20-30 minutes)
This will give you time to enjoy your breakfast

E. Morning Wildlife Safari/ 2nd Game Drive (Ending at around 9.30 a.m.)
F. Get down from the safari vehicle and get into the transfer vehicle (Air-conditioned Car or minivan) - at Tissamaharama at around 10.00 a.m.
G. Drop-off time at around 11.30 a.m. - in and around the areas of Hiriketiya/ Tangalle/ Dikwella/ Rekawa/ Nilwella/ Mawella.
Your safety and comfort are our top priorities, so we use only the rugged Toyota Hilux 4x4 vehicles for the safari, specially equipped to navigate the YALA National Park's diverse off-road conditions easily.
Marvel at the sight of majestic elephants, graceful spotted deer, and elusive sloth bears, among a plethora of other mesmerizing species. Your knowledgeable driver cum guide will regale you with insights into the behaviours and habitats of YALA's diverse wildlife.

Ajith Safari Jeep Tours has been a safari operator for more than 30 years and also an authorized company to offer safari services in YALA National Park, all of our 4X4 vehicles have the necessary approvals and all of our drivers have the special licenses to provide their service as safari drivers in the YALA National Park, which are issued by the Department of Wildlife Conservation in Sri Lanka.

Please be informed that the Entrance fees to the YALA National Park (Sri Lankan Rupees 11,000/-, approx. 37 USD) is not included in this package.
You must pay the fees at the entrance in cash in Sri Lankan Rupees or through a credit card. (There are no facilities at present at the YALA National Park entrances to make cash payments in foreign currencies)
To run the safari operation financially smoothly, it requires at least two guests for every booking.
The children aged 5 or below will be given the chance to ride the safari free of charge. Only 50% of the price will be charged for children above 5 and below 12 years old. (We are happy to let the future guardians of the planet Earth take their first steps in experiencing to be aligned with nature)
Children below 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.
Our driver will come to pick you up from the hotels in and around the Ella/ Bandarawela/ Wellawaya area. Transfer vehicle is an Air-conditioned car or minivan with luggage space and on SHARING BASIS. All pick up times - (Morning Safari - 3.00 a.m. / Afternoon Safari - if you want to have lunch before the safari select 11.15 a.m. / else 11.45 a.m.) The time will be slightly adjusted depending on the location of your hotel and the locations of other guests' hotels who are going to SHARE the safari with you. Sometimes, management of the hotels assign a location within the hotel premises other than the lobby area, for guests to be picked up by the drivers. Please communicate beforehand with the hotel staff and get to know the location, if not, the driver and you will be waiting for each other in two different locations.
