Guided tour of the Devesa del Saler and the Albufera.

Objective of the activity

The guided tour aims to provide participants with an educational and recreational experience, where they will be able to learn first-hand about the unique ecosystems of the Devesa del Saler and the Albufera Natural Park. Through this activity, we seek to promote respect and environmental awareness, as well as enjoy the natural and cultural wealth of the region.

Duration

The activity is designed to last approximately 5 hours, starting in the morning and ending in the early afternoon.

Detailed Itinerary

1. Meeting and Welcome Point.

- Time: 9:00 A.M.

- Place: Racó de l'Olla Visitor Center.

- Description: Participants will meet at the Visitor Center where they will receive a general introduction to the Devesa del Saler and the Albufera. Maps and information brochures will be provided.

2. Dunes Trail.

We will begin the walk along the Dunes Trail, a signposted route that crosses the dune formations. The dynamics of the dunes, their formation and the flora adapted to this environment, such as the barron and the sea thistle, will be explained. We will also talk about the local fauna, including birds and small reptiles.

3. Walk through the Pine Forest.

We will continue the tour entering the Aleppo pine forest. Here the importance of the Mediterranean forest, the predominant plant species and their role in protecting the soil and local fauna will be discussed.

4. Bird Watching in Wetlands.

We will arrive at a wetland area near the Albufera, equivalent to a bird observatory. Participants will be able to observe various species of water birds, such as flamingos and herons. They will talk about migrations and the biodiversity of the area.

5. Lunch and Free Time.

There will be a lunch break at one of the designated picnic areas. Participants will be able to enjoy a picnic in the middle of nature. It is recommended to bring food and drinks, although there will also be a short talk about the culinary traditions of the region, including the importance of rice and Valencian paella.

6. Visit to Devesa Beach.

The last part of the tour will take us to Playa de la Devesa. Here you can enjoy the beach, learn about the coastal geography and the differences between this natural beach and other urbanized beaches in Valencia. The coastline and measures to protect the marine ecosystem will also be discussed.

7. Conclusion and Questions.

We will return to the starting point where guides will be available to answer questions and listen to feedback. A summary of the visit will be made, highlighting the importance of the conservation and biodiversity of the Devesa del Saler and the Albufera.
