Pico Mountain is the tallest mountain in Portugal and can be very difficult to climb, especially for newcomers. On this full-day outing, climb the mountain and sleeping volcano with a professional, certified Pico Mountain guide belonging to the Association of Azores Mountain Guides. It’s a 5-mile (8 kilometers) hike to the top at 7700 feet (2350 meters), with your guide watching out for the proper routes and your safety and well-being.
Is rated as a medium degree of difficulty, for that reason a good physical preparation and motor coordination are necessary, and preferably have experience in trails with accentuated slope. With an average duration of 7 to 9 hours, it starts early in the morning to reach the summit around lunch time and finishes the descent during the afternoon.

In case you have a drone, you must register at ANAC website (Portuguese Civil Aviation Authority) and inform us.
All participants must have a good physical condition and motor coordination to participate in the Mount Pico Climb and it is imperative to inform Tripix Azores, before confirming the activity, if any of the participants of the group have physical restrictions, especially in the lower limbs, fear of heights (vertigo), mental restrictions, heart problems, asthma problems or respiratory sensitivity, diabetes, pregnancy or other type of health limitations, and must not have done diving 24 hours before the climb. We also inform you that participants with a sedentary lifestyle will not be able to do the Climb Mount Pico activity.
The Mountain’s House is an obligatory stop at Pico Mountain. Its main goal is to support those who want to climb the mountain and to make their registration and control, in accordance with the regulation in force. It provides information about the geology, biology, history, climate and legal framework of the Pico Mountain Nature Reserve, both in information panels and in movie format, which can be viewed in the auditorium.
