Wrocław: Old Town sightseeing with tasting of local liqueur

Discover the most beautiful nooks and crannies of Wrocław's Old Town and taste the original “Breslauer Dom” liqueur from the Wrocław "Vodka and Liqueur Factory L. Galewsky & Co." A walk with tasting.
We start the tour at the Market Square in Wrocław. Here you will meet your guide at the oldest restaurant in Wrocław, the "Piwnica Świdnicka" restaurant. Social life has always flourished here - until 1945, the regulars of this place were students who mainly liked beer.

What did you drink in cafes and elegant restaurants in the past? Of course – the famous Wrocław liqueur “Breslauer Dom” (Wrocław Cathedral)! "Louis Galevski's Liqueur and Vodka Factory" had been producing this famous drink in Wrocław since the beginning of the 20th century! The liqueur was, next to local beers, one of the favorite alcoholic beverages of Wrocław's inhabitants and its taste was known throughout Lower Silesia!

We visit the beautiful Market Square and its tall tenement houses, then head towards Wita Stwosza Street (formerly Albrechtstrasse). It was here, near the Market Square, that Louis Galevski's factory was located. Did the factory survive the war turmoil? Does it still produce the famous liqueur?

We taste the liqueur. The guide hands out small disposable glasses to the participants. Everyone has the opportunity to experience this famous taste!

We continue sightseeing. We are walking towards the University of Wrocław. At the Swordsman's Fountain we stop for a moment and admire the most beautiful baroque building in the city. Why is the Swordsman naked? This is a very funny story from almost 100 years ago!

We end the tour at Ostrów Tumski. This is the oldest, Gothic part of Wrocław, located directly on the Oder. Around us are majestic Gothic buildings and the most beautiful of them - the Wrocław Cathedral. The mother of Wrocław's churches. Here, time stopped in the Middle Ages! At the end of the tour, we taste the liqueur and our thoughts go back to the old times... The tour ends here and the participants can continue the sightseeing on their own and, for example, sail on a beautiful cruise.

Post scriptum: The famous Wrocław liqueur “Breslauer Dom” is still produced by the descendants of Lois Galevski, and its bottle is still decorated with the characteristic Gothic windows of the Wrocław Cathedral. Louis Galewsky's modest tombstone has been preserved in the Old Jewish Cemetery, as well as the graves of other members of this Wrocław family.
