Day 1: Departure from Manila - Arrival in Buscalan Village
Your journey begins with an overnight drive from Manila, taking you north to the remote village of Buscalan in Kalinga, home to the Butbut tribe. The scenic drive through the Cordillera Mountains offers breathtaking views of terraced fields, rivers, and misty peaks. Upon arrival, you will embark on a moderate trek through the mountains to reach Buscalan Village, where time seems to slow down, and the rich culture of the Kalinga people thrives.
Once settled in the village, you'll have the opportunity to witness and learn about the traditional way of life of the Butbut people. In the afternoon, you will meet Apo Whang-od, the legendary 106-year-old mambabatok (traditional tattoo artist), who still practices the ancient art of hand-tapped tattoos using bamboo sticks and thorn ink. Each tattoo has deep cultural significance, representing bravery, milestones, and heritage.
If you choose to get inked, you can receive a signature tattoo from Apo Whang-Od or her apprentice, continuing the legacy of this sacred tradition. The session is a deeply emotional and cultural experience, with many travelers considering it the highlight of the tour.
Day 2: Exploration of Buscalan Village - Return to Manila
On the second day, wake up to the serene beauty of Buscalan Village. After breakfast, explore more of the village, interact with the locals, and take in the stunning mountain views. The morning will be spent soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and learning more about the Butbut tribe's history and traditions.

The tour is a 2-day tour, with Day 0 starting on Friday evening for departure. The actual tour starts on Saturday and concludes on Sunday evening. As the tour will end late on Sunday, we highly recommend booking your flight for Monday to ensure a stress-free and comfortable experience.
