描述
Discover the wild side of the Amazon rainforest in Peru when you take this trip to Pacaya Samiria National Park. Birds, mammals, fish, all form part of the rich diversity of this reserve.
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in downtown Iquitos or at the airport before making our way to Nauta, an idyllic town in the province of Loreto.
This journey of 1.5 hours will take us to the Marañon and Ucayali Rivers. Once there, we'll be equipped with life jackets before climbing on board a boat that will take us along the waters of the tributary.
During our relaxing cruise, we'll hopefully see sloths hugging the huge trees of the rainforest and colourful birds soaring in the sky of the Amazon above us. If we're very lucky, we may also catch a glimpse of the grey and pink dolphins which roam these waters.
Hungry yet? Along the way, we'll replenish our strength with a delicious lunch, based on a typical meal of the region known as 'Juane'. It features a combination of chicken, egg, olive and specially prepared rice, all wrapped in a green bijao leaf.
We'll then enter the Pacaya Samiria National Park, the fourth largest protected area in South America, spanning over 20,000 km (12,400 miles). Inside the park, there are about 208 villages of 56 indigenous communities that rely entirely on the natural resources of the reserve.
The rainy seasons bring out lizards, taricayas, and charapas. In the warmer months, we'll be able to see birds, monkeys, and amphibians.
After 9 hours of adventure, we'll arrive back at your hotel.
