On this tour we will visit the historic center of this Peruvian city and visit a manatee rescue center and the Quistococha zoo. We won't miss anything!
Itinerary
At 9:00 a.m., we will meet on the central Antonio Raimondi Avenue to begin this complete tour of Iquitos. During the tour, we will discover the main attractions of this city located on the banks of the Amazon River and we will delve into its history.
We will walk through the historic center of Iquitos contemplating enormous mansions decorated with tiles that were once brought from Europe in the context of the rubber fever that brought so much wealth to this city at the end of the 19th century.
Wandering around we will come across the façade of the Casa de Fierro, which was designed by Gustave Eiffel, the architect of the famous Parisian tower. And thus we will arrive at the Museum of Amazonian Indigenous Cultures, where we will see pieces of crafts, textiles and other objects that belong to different ethnic groups in the area.
The next stop on the tour of Iquitos will be at the Belén market, where we can mix with local life watching the continuous coming and going of the inhabitants of this city. Fruit, fish, meat products. There's everything here!
We will go to a restaurant and we will leave you approximately one hour free so you can eat. With our appetite satisfied, we'll board a minibus and head to the outskirts of the city to visit a manatee rescue center. Here, we will learn about the work carried out by volunteers who try to save these aquatic mammals from extinction.
The last stop of the tour will be at the Quistococha zoo. Many Amazonian species coexist in this park, such as jaguars, monkeys, tapirs, caimans, snakes and macaws. You will be able to see them very closely!
We will end the tour at 5:00 p.m. at the starting point.
