Enjoy one of the alternate routes to visit the wonder of Machu Picchu with breathtaking views of the Salkantay Mountains, wild animals, snow-capped mountains, mountains and dense vegetation.
Day 1We will start with the pick up from your respective hotel in Cusco that begins at 5:00 a.m. Once located in our vehicle we head to the district of Mollepata approx. for about 2 hours.Then we will take a 3 hour walk to Soraypampa, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch.After lunch we will be visiting the Humantay Lagoon, then we will begin to descend for about an hour.In the afternoon we will settle in our camp and later we will have a delicious dinner with a beautiful sunset next to the Salkantay snow-capped mountain.Day 2Before starting the trek you will enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared by our kitchen team.We will start with our hike of approximately three hours (7km) to the highest point of our entire journey, the Abra Salkantay. In the Salkantay Pass we will have a brief rest and then descend a rocky path full of stones for about two hours, on the way we will have magnificent views towards our next stop Wayracmachay.After three hours of walking we will be arriving to our next camp in Chaullay. In the evening you will have a delicious dinner after a long day.Day 3It is our third day and we will wake up earlier than usual to continue our adventure through the jungle, for which we enjoy our breakfast to start the hike to our next stop which is La Playa Sahuayaco, we will walk through much of Santa Teresa seeing fruit plantations such as orange, banana, avocado and coffee plantations. We will continue our hike passing by Sahuayaco Beach, where we will have a delicious lunch. Then we head to Lucmabamba where our campsite is located. At night we will have dinner and rest in the middle of nature.Day 4We begin our penultimate day with the ascent to the archaeological site of Llaqtapata.Once we arrive to Llaqtapata we will have an explanation of the site. After spending some time touring the site we head to the Aobamba river basin where we will have our lunch. After that we will go to the hydroelectric plant. We will hike for 3 hours to Machupicchu town also known as Aguas Calientes.Day 5The guided tour in the citadel of Machu Picchu will have a duration of two hours approx. Once the tour is over, we will return in the same mobility to Machupicchu Pueblo.In Machupicchu town you will have enough time to have lunch and then we will go to the train station to board the train to Ollantaytambo. In Ollantaytambo our mobility will be waiting for us to board and transfer back to the city of Cusco.
