The ascent of Nevado Mateo is, today, a very popular challenge among Peruvian mountaineers, as well as among all those who are starting out in mountaineering.
Itinerary Pick up at 3:00 am from your hotel with our vehicle to head northeast of Huaraz for 2 and a half hours, entering through the town of Carhuaz, passing through the town of Shilla and the Huascarán National Park until reaching Punta Olímpica where we will park. 6:00 am We will begin the walk along the moraine for approximately 1 hour until we reach the base of the glacier where we will put on the crampons and the guide will thread them to begin climbing the mountain to the summit for approximately 1 hour, after contemplating the view of the Contrahiervas snow-capped mountain and the small and large lagoons of Cancará. From the summit we will begin to descend along the same route until we reach the vehicle and return to Huaraz. 16:00 hrs Approximate arrival in Huaraz
