5-Day Desert Tour to Fez, Merzouga and Erg Chebbi

Embark on a 5-day desert trip from Tangier and explore cities from Fes to Ouerzazate. Sleep in desert camps and cross the Atlas Mountains to see highlights, including Ait Benhaddou and Erg Chebbi.
Day 1
Start with pickup from your hotel in Tangier in a private air-conditioned vehicle. We will head to the imperial city of Fes passing through the small coastal town of Assilah, admired by tourists for its calm and serene atmosphere.

Visit the Ismaili Capital of Morocco, Meknes, where the gigantic Bab Mansour door is located along with the lively Lhdim square, Mausoleum Moulay Ismail, and Sahrij Souani.

After enjoying lunch in Meknes, we will take you to visit the Roman city of Volubilis, the farthest Roman post south of Africa. The ruins and the beautiful mosaic stand witness to what was a great empire that stretched over a huge part of the world.

After Volubilis, we will depart to the imperial city of Fes where you will have dinner and spend the first night.

Day 2
After breakfast, you’ll visit the Medina of Fes on a walking tour of its most famous attractions. See Bab Bou Jeloud, "The Blue Gate" of Fez, the Nejjarine fountain, The Qarawiyin University, and the Chouwara Tannerie. Dinner and overnight in your Riad in Fes.

Day 3
Depart from Fes after having a delicious breakfast. Head to the Moroccan Sahara desert through the gorgeous Serene Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Azrou to explore the cedar forest and feed the little macaque monkeys.

Pass by Midelt and some Berber villages before reaching Merzouga where you will embark on a camel ride to your luxury desert camp, located on the beautiful golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. Upon your arrival to the desert camp, you will be welcomed with tea and will get to taste the traditional “Medfouna” dish for dinner.

Day 4
Rise early and enjoy the magic of the sunrise in the Moroccan Sahara. After breakfast, depart from Merzouga heading towards the gorgeous Dades Valley.

Stop at Toudgha Gorge for a walk and for lunch, where the orange limestones are separated by a 300m-deep fault creating a captivating sight. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Dades Valley.

Day 5
Travel through the Rose Valley and Skoura with its historical mudbrick castles and kasbahs. Visit Ouarzazate which has become a major attraction for movie lovers from all over the world. Have lunch in a local restaurant in the Berber village of Telouet.

Visit the beautiful and famous Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, the most famous kasbah in Morocco before descending through the Tizi-n-Tichka pass to Marrakech where the driver will drop you off and mark the end of your adventure.
