From here, our private tour continues towards Lovćen National Park & its peaks. To conquer this “Sea of rocks,” we will drive through the National Park Lovćen and reach the well-known Lake Peak at an altitude of 1.660 meters (5446 feet).
On top of the second highest peak of Lovćen sits imposing and officially the highest mausoleum in the world - where the greatest Montenegrin ruler and poet, Petar II Petrović Njegoš, rests in peace.
After climbing 461 steps to reach it, we finally get to see a massive statue of the ruler made by world-known sculptor Ivan Meštrović.
The ceiling inside the Lovcen Mausoleum is covered with 220.000 golden pieces that together make one spacious, 18 kg (40 lbs) heavy golden mosaic.
As we go behind the Mausoleum, we will discover a bird-eye-view vantage point with the best possible view of, cca 70%, mountainous and rocky land of Montenegro.
