Nairobi: 2-Day Mount Kenya Sirimon Route Trek with Transfers

Embark on a 2-day trek to the top of Mount Kenya on the Sirimon Route. Enjoy a hot meal at the Old Moses Hut and admire the views of the Likii Valley and the highest peak of Mount Kenya.
Embark on a 2-day trekking adventure on Mount Kenya. Journey up Africa’s second-tallest mountain, the Sirimon Route, situated on the dry side of the mountain. Enjoy stunning mountain views along the way, with hot meals provided so you won’t have to carry your own.

Day 1:

Leave Nairobi at 7:00 AM to Sirimon Gate via Nanyuki where you cross the equator for the first time and do some experiments on how to detect that you are exactly at the equator point. Proceed to Sirimon Gate where you will have lunch.

After lunch, start the trek to Old Moses Camp, a distance of 9 kilometers that takes about 3 to 4 hours. Pass through a forest of indigenous trees like podocarpus trees, douglass fire, red cinder, pine, and then through bamboo and finally to the heath part arriving at the Old Moses Hut at around 2:30 PM or 3:00 PM.

In the evening, a guide will take you further up for a short distance up to 3,600 meters and then descend back to the hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 2:

After an early breakfast at 6:00 AM, ascend further higher up to 4,001 meters to the viewpoint of the highest peak of Mount Kenya. Here, you will have a magnificent view of Likii Valley and the highest twin peak Batian at 5,199 meters and Nelion at 5,188 meters before you descend back to Old Moses Camp for lunch as you prepare for a return trek back to Sirimon Gate where you will meet your transfer vehicle back to your hotel in Nairobi.
