Walk around the ancient city while you get a guided tour of its history, Mount Vesuvius' eruption and how the Romans lived. You will see all the most important public buildings and private houses.
Afterwards, enjoy lunch at a typical restaurant, pizzeria or winery. In the afternoon you'll visit Mount Vesuvius. At the top of the volcano is a crater rim that allows a view into the crater that still smokes slightly.
