Although less known than its twin city Pompeii, Herculaneum is another victim of the ferocious eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. The city of Herculaneum, just like the city of Pompeii, was completely buried under the fire of pyroclastic material and rediscovered only in 1709 by workers who dug a well.

It is a bitter and sweet relationship between Vesuvius and the Neapolitans.
From the top you will have a panoramic view of the picturesque bay of Naples from east to west.
