Tanjung Benoa Turtle Conservation is a green turtle sanctuary independently managed by the local community. This conservation area offers a unique and educational experience, highlighting the importance of preserving these endangered creatures. Due to a drastic decline in the turtle population, the government has imposed strict regulations, prohibiting the capture, purchase, and sale of turtles. For ritual purposes, only one turtle is permitted, which is only for large temples and significant religious ceremonies.
During your visit, while enjoying a refreshing young coconut, you'll learn about turtle conservation efforts and even have the opportunity to select a baby turtle to release back into the ocean. You'll also receive a certificate to commemorate this meaningful experience.
