Hauz Khas is an affluent suburb in South Delhi that has a long history dating back to the medieval times. Hauz Khas Village still maintains its original appeal owing to its remaining examples of Indo-Islamic architecture, which are loosely painted by elegant urbane renovations. This walk takes you on a tour revolving around the medieval water tank or reservoir established during the times of Khalji dynasty, the second ruling power in the history of Delhi Sultanate. The tank came to known as Hauz Khas or the Royal Tank by the time of the 14th century became an impressive example of the hydraulic advances achieved in those times. This is where several other prominent monuments are scattered including a madrasa belonging to the reign of Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq, that functioned as one of the international educational institution then, and the Sultan is himself buried in the same vicinity inside an elaborately carved Tomb complex.
