Let’s enjoy a very special Christmas tour across 3 different Sachsen towns full of beautiful Christmas atmosphere, local markets and decorations. Meissen, Freiberg & Annaberg-Buchholz
Your private driver will pick you up at 8:00am from your hotel or another agreed location in Prague. The drive to Germany will take you through beautiful border landscapes and will last approximately 2 hours.

Stop 1 – Meissen (arrival around 10:00am)

The town of Meissen is famous for its porcelain, which is among the oldest in the world. A brief tour of the town includes a visit to the historical center and the chance to purchase local porcelain as Christmas gifts. You can also explore the charming Christmas markets held in the picturesque town square, where you can buy traditional German Christmas treats or handcrafted items.

Stop 2 – Freiberg (arrival around 13:00 pm)

Your next stop is Freiberg, a historic mining town with a rich tradition. The town is known for its cathedral (Freiberger Dom) and silver mines. You’ll visit the local Christmas markets, which are a favorite among locals for their authentic atmosphere and special delicacies, such as silver coffee or the traditional Saxon Christstollen (Christmas stollen). For history enthusiasts, there’s the option to visit the local Mining Museum.

In Freiberg, you can enjoy lunch at one of the traditional restaurants, serving local Saxon specialties such as sausages, potato dishes, or cabbage rolls.

Stop 3 – Annaberg-Buchholz (arrival around 4:00 PM)

Annaberg-Buchholz is another beautiful town in the Ore Mountains, known for its mining heritage and Christmas traditions. The Christmas markets here are incredibly charming, with wooden crafts from the Ore Mountains, particularly Christmas pyramids, nutcrackers, and candle arches, being popular souvenirs. We recommend exploring the town, with a highlight being St. Anne’s Church, and be sure to taste the local Christmas punch.

Return to Prague (departure around 6:00 PM)

After soaking in the festive atmosphere in Annaberg-Buchholz, your driver will take you back to Prague. The journey will take approximately 2.5 hours, so you will arrive back in Prague around 8:30 PM, depending on traffic.

This one-day trip is perfect for those wanting to experience a true German Advent atmosphere, while also enjoying the comfort of traveling with a private driver.
