Garmisch-Partenkirchen, an important town along transalpine trade routes since Roman times, lies at its base. Climbed for the first time in 1820, Zugspitze now offers stunning views across the Alps, reaching Austria and Italy on clear days. Please note that transportation, including the train from Munich to Garmisch and mountain transport, is not included.
