Hamburg was once a brewery stronghold. With over 500 breweries, it was the most important brewing center of the Hanseatic League, a large association of European merchant guilds and trading cities. Weißbier is actually a Hamburg invention from the 14th century.
Today Hamburg's Schanzenviertel, a former meatpacking district, is a lively craft beer destination and full of underground pubs and trendy bars. Since around 2013, the craft beer movement in Hamburg has been breathing new life into one of mankind's most ancient beverages.
In addition to the old and traditional styles, there are also innovative and newly interpreted beers to try. At the beginning of the tour, you will visit the Ratsherrn brewery. Then the guide will show you the Schanzen district.
Visit the best curry sausage stand and enjoy a sausage together. After that, check out a cool craft beer bar. You will have the chance to taste and order some interesting new beers, depending on which type you like the most.
