Legend has it that Saint Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia, erected a large wooden cross here, which miraculously remained in place despite attempts to remove it. The monastery, perched on a cliff overlooking the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, offers breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere.
