Day 1: Addis Ababa to Jinka
Your adventure begins with a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Jinka, the gateway to the Omo Valley. The flight offers breathtaking views of the Ethiopian highlands. Upon arrival in Jinka, you’ll visit the Ari tribe village, known for their traditional farming, craftwork, and hospitality. Explore their daily activities, including weaving, pottery making, and farming. Interact with the locals to learn about their culture and way of life. Afterward, return to Jinka for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Jinka to Mago National Park and Mursi Tribe
On Day 2, head to Mago National Park, home to the Mursi tribe, famous for their lip plates. These large clay discs are a symbol of beauty and status. You’ll meet the Mursi people and learn about their cattle herding and farming lifestyle. The park’s rugged landscapes and wildlife offer plenty of photo opportunities. After visiting the Mursi, return to Jinka for a visit to the South Omo Research Center, which provides insight into the Omo Valley’s diverse tribes. Overnight in Jinka.

Day 3: Jinka to Turmi – Benna, Tsemay, and Hamer Tribes
On Day 3, you’ll travel toward Turmi, passing through the villages of the Benna and Tsemay tribes. The Benna are known for their intricate beadwork, while the Tsemay are skilled cattle herders. If it’s a market day, you’ll explore vibrant local markets filled with handmade crafts, fresh produce, and colorful fabrics. In the late afternoon, you’ll visit the Hamer tribe, famous for their body adornments, including intricate bead necklaces, ochre-painted skin, and elaborate hairstyles. If possible, you’ll witness a bull-jumping ceremony, a rite of passage for young men. After a full day, you’ll stay overnight in Turmi.

Day 4: Turmi to Omorate – Dassanech Tribe
Day 4 takes you south to Omorate, where you’ll visit the Dassanech tribe, known for their body painting and nomadic lifestyle. The Dassanech live in circular mud huts and rely on fishing, farming, and herding cattle for their livelihood. Experience their rich traditions, including ritual dances and body art. A boat trip on the Omo River will offer beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes. Afterward, return to Turmi for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Turmi to Karo and Return to Addis Ababa
On the final day of the tour, you’ll visit the Karo tribe, renowned for their striking body painting and body modification. The Karo people use natural pigments to create intricate designs on their skin, both decorative and symbolic. They are also skilled farmers and fishermen. After your visit, you’ll return to Jinka and fly back to Addis Ababa in the afternoon, concluding your journey through the heart of Ethiopia’s Omo Valley
