The best thing to do is book a spot for your car at the private Ketetahi Car Park, which includes a shuttle to start the Tongariro Alpine Crossing hike at Mangatepopo. It's that easy!
This is a secure car park with parking guards on site till 5 pm and 24/7 video monitoring with remote access – so your car will be safe, and you have ample time to get back.
When you reach the end of the track, you walk another 10 minutes back to the car park, where your vehicle awaits, and you can drive off at your leisure.
