Itinerary
Day 1
Start your adventure with a hotel pick-up in Bogotá, then transfer to Terminal Salitre to board a night bus to San Agustín, departing at 10:00 p.m. and arriving around 8:00 a.m. A transfer will take you to your hotel between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. Enjoy a hearty breakfast to prepare for the day.
At 2:00 p.m., choose between two activities:
**Option 1: Horseback Riding Adventure:** Ride through rural paths to the archaeological sites of El Tablón and La Chaquira. This scenic journey lasts about 3 hours.
Alternatively, take a car tour to El Tablón, La Chaquira, La Pelota, and El Purutal. This tour also takes about 3 hours.
**Option 2: Rafting on the Magdalena River:** Navigate up to level 3 rapids on an 8-kilometer journey downstream lasting about 3 hours.
After your activity, return to your hotel in San Agustín.
Day 2
Explore San Agustín's cultural and natural heritage on a full-day tour. Visit the Estrecho del Magdalena, where Colombia's national river narrows to 2.20 meters in a stunning canyon. Learn plantain fiber weaving from the Rengifo Becerra family.
Continue to the Alto de los Ídolos and Las Piedras Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and marvel at the 220-meter Mortiño waterfall. This tour lasts about 8 hours, with car rides and short walks.
Day 3
Dedicate the day to exploring San Agustín's archaeology and nature. Tour the Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, visiting Mesitas A, B, C, Fuente del Lavapatas, Alto del Lavapatas, Bosque de las Estatuas, and the Museum. This walking tour lasts 4 to 5 hours.
