Khmer traditional martial arts were originally created in Cambodia and dating back to the 1st century. The strike techniques were taught and trained for wariers to fight against the enemies and self defense. They could make use of a wide range of body parts and weapons .

The introduction of boxing ring, rounds, gloves,as well as the prohibiting of life threatening techniques, transformed a local martial arts in to a sport.
After the the country liberated from the Khmer Rough regime, the country has been being developed. Now, it is popular sport in the region and foreign nations. The match consists of 3 minutes of  three or five rounds . The Kun Khmer is really famous for its free style of fighting, including punching, kicking, kneeling and elbow strikes to knock out the opponents in the ring.
