8:00PM An early morning pick-up from your Siem Reap hotel will be the first step, and your driver will then drive you through the verdant Khmer countryside to the far-flung Beng Mealea temple. Beng Mealea's 11th-century ruins can be explored before you sit down to eat a picnic lunch there. The ruins are located in a clearing in the Cambodian jungle.
1:00PM After admiring the temple's splendor, continue driving for another hour to Koh Ker, which is northeast of Siem Reap. Explore the historical temples of Koh Ker, formerly known as Chok Gargyar. Walk among the ruins of holy structures and religious sculptures as you explore the site's 30 main structures. The impressive National Museum in Phnom Penh currently houses a collection that includes some of the enormous statues from Koh Ker.
