From Phnom Penh to Sambor Preikuk, Kuhak Nokor & Skun Market

Depart from Phnom Penh to discover the ancient pre-Angkorian Capital City from the 5th-7th Century AD and the abandoned temple nestled in the village. Visit the Spider Market along the route.
We will meet you at the hotel lobby and take you to Kompung Thom Province, passing through the downtown area. From there, we will travel along a dirt road to the ancient city of Chenla, which was the capital of the Kingdom of Chenla in the early 5th-7th century. Sambor Prei Kuk, constructed by King Isanavarman I, was an important religious center dedicated to the worship of Shiva, with over 100 temples mostly made of brick. The temple ruins are spread across three main groups in the jungle. You will have the opportunity to explore the serene temples, including Prasat Yeay Peau and the lion carvings of Prasat Tao. Afterward, we will return to Kampong Thom and visit Kuh Nokor Temple, the largest and best-preserved temple site in the province after Sambor Prei Kuk. This laterite temple, restored during the French period, was built in the 10th-11th century by King Suryavarman I and consists of an enclosure wall, library, and central shrine with an excellent sandstone lintel depicting Indra on his three-headed elephant Airavata above the entrance. On the way back to Phnom Penh, we will stop at Skun Market, also known as The Spider Market, where you can see buckets and platters containing enormous spiders, grasshoppers, scorpions, and more. Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, we will drop you off at your hotel.
