Discover the beautiful floating village of Kampong Phluk on a day trip from Siem Reap. Enjoy the scenic countryside and a boat cruise along Tonle Sap Lake before tasting authentic Cambodian food.
You will be picked up at between 2:00 pm to 2:20 pm from your hotel in Siem Reap and then we'll go directly to the the Kampong Phluk, flooded & fishing village of Tonle Sap lake, located just 21 kilometers from Siem Reap town.
Once in the lake port, we'll take a local boat from the ferry to explore the famous floating villages of Kampong Phluk. There, you can see firsthand what everyday life is like for the many families who make their living primarily from fishing. Most families live on the lake shore in brightly colored houses on long poles, so the high water levels are not a problem during the rainy season. Explore the flooded mangrove forest surrounding the area, which is home to a variety of species, including crab-eating macaques and 3,000 inhabitants. We will then take you to visit a Buddhist monastery built on an artificial island.
After cruise boat, Spend your evening discovering the best of Siem Reap’s street food, and enjoy of taste authentic dishes like fresh and fried spring rolls, Crispy rice pancake, Khmer jasmine rice noodle with green curry soup, and sweet desserts, savoring the flavor of skewered meat, try a little fried cricket, fried tarantula, fried grasshopper, fried water beetle, fried frog and digest your bounteous banquet with a can of beer. Then before transfer you back to your accommodation, we drive you to see the most popular night market in Siem Reap for the local people, and explore food store, fruit stores and mobile clothes stores.

The end of March to the end of July is a crucial time in all the floating villages, as the water levels start to recede and present a unique opportunity for tourists to experience a new perspective. Although the picturesque landscape of the floating community may lose some of its charm during this time, visitors have a chance to immerse themselves in the daily life of the villagers living in the dried season. While some boats may become stuck, and smaller canoes are unable to traverse the jungle forest, these challenges add to the thrill of the experience. The dry season in Kompong Phluk village may not be the ideal time to visit for those seeking postcard-perfect photos, but it offers a chance to witness a facet of the village’s daily life that is not typically seen. As they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. We recommend visitors to embrace this rare chance to witness a different facet of this incredible destination and truly get a different taste of life in the village
