Private walking tour of Plovdiv including the main landmarks: Bishop's basilica, old town with visit of a house museum and old times' pharmacy museum, the famous ancient theater and the Roman stadium.
We meet up in front of Central post office in the city center of Plovdiv
Our first stop is the Bishop’s basilica, some 10 minutes walk (ticket to see inside needed). On the way we will pass through some Roman ruins. We will pay a visit to the basilica and enjoy the mosaics created by ancient craftsmen during the Roman era of Philipopolis (The Roman name of Plovdiv).
Following the visit to the basilica, we will head by foot towards the old town, entering from the “Ponedelnik pazar” gate. We will dive into the 19th century, seeing a vivid trade city from the late Ottoman empire. Our stops will include the Roman theater, museum pharmacy Hypocrat (ticket to see inside needed), Constantine & Helene church and the Balabanov house (ticket to see inside needed).*
Our tour will finish at the Jumaya mosque, where you can also see the Roman stadium.
Since it is a private tour, based on the group preferences the program in the old town can be altered.
