Shkodra, the "Capital of the North," is Albania's oldest and most developed northern city. Once the Illyrian Kingdom's center, it captivates with its rich history, lake beauty, and locals' humor.
Departing from Tirana, you'll arrive in Shkodra and begin your tour with a visit to the Castle and its Museum, which features a fascinating collection of artifacts and documents. These exhibits illustrate the city's history, spanning from the Illyrian to Ottoman periods, including the battles fought by Shkodra against the Romans, Byzantines, and Slavs, as well as the heroic resistance of the locals during the Ottoman siege. A guided tour of the city follows, with an optional visit to the Marubi Museum, the most significant photographic museum in Albania and one of the most important in the Balkans.
