Discover the origins of Harry Potter and see the Edinburgh sights that inspired JK Rowling's stories. Join a fun Potterhead guide and a small group of fellow fans for a wizarding walking tour.
Set off on a magical tour of Edinburgh with our fun Potter-head guide, and see the places that inspired JK Rowling to create her wizarding universe.
Starting at Tron Kirk on The Royal Mile, we first head to historic Waverley Station. Then head to Edinburgh University Old College - a famous old campus which provided lots of inspiration for JK Rowling’s creations.
We continue through the atmospheric Old Town, stopping at Greyfriars Kirkyard which inspired Tom Riddle's Grave and passing by the Elephant Café where JK Rowling sat for many hours dreaming up the world of Harry Potter!
Get amazing views of Edinburgh Castle on our way to Victoria Street - said to be the inspiration for Diagon Alley - and we finish near Edinburgh City Chambers where you’ll learn about JK Rowling’s impact on the city.

Meeting Point = Tron Kirk (The Royal Mile Market)
- We meet outside of the Tron Kirk (Address: 122 High Street, Edinburgh EH1 1SG, UK)
- Opposite Bella Italia on the world famous Royal Mile.
- Nearest train station is Waverly station, its a 10min walk away.
- South side of North Bridge just around the corner to the right as you get to the end of the Bridge and we will be the opposite side of The Royal Mile.
- Coming from St Giles Catherdral keep walking down The Royal Mile, down the Hill and Tron Kirk is a Large 17th Century Church on your right hand side.
