From Karatu: 4-Day Safari to Ngorongoro and Serengeti

Embark on a 4-day safari to the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park. Witness the seasonal migration of thousands of wildebeests and zebras, and admire the beautiful landscapes and animal-filled crater.

Day 1: Kilimanjaro International Airport to Karatu
Be met at Kilimanjaro International Airport and welcomed to Tanzania by a Dikop Tours & Safaris staff member. Drive from the airport through Arusha town to Karatu and your accommodation where you can relax and prepare for the safari.

Day 2: Karatu to Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, make your way into the Ngorongoro Crater on a steep and narrow road. The slopes are forested but soon the landscape changes to savannah dotted with the occasional acacia tree. The wildlife here is absolutely breath-taking and if you are lucky you might spot the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard.

The crater is also home to warthogs, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and many more. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest volcanic caldera, formed during the massive explosion of the volcano once higher than Kilimanjaro some 2 to 3 million years ago. The crater has the total area of 304 km², 600 m deep and the diameter of 20 km.

After a morning full of game viewing and a picnic lunch, leave the crater in the afternoon and head to Serengeti National Park for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park Full-day Game Drive
Spend the day in the Serengeti National Park, which has really special sights, sounds, and smells of Africa with stunning scenery, ever-changing light, and entertaining wildlife. In this park, the animals don’t walk to any schedule so you may find lions, leopards, elephants, zebras, cheetahs, antelopes, gazelles, hippos, and many species of birds and reptiles during your game drive.

Here you might spend your day at the central park area or your guide will be knowing where to take you according to the season (migration of the animals).

Day 4: Seronera to Zanzibar
After a half game drive in the Serengeti National Park, visit the Serengeti Visitor’s Center for more information about the park. After all amazing days of adventure in Tanzania mainland, take a flight from central Serengeti (Seronera Airport) to Zanzibar.
