Portugal's wine landscapes are legendary: names like Porto, Duero, and Madeira are known all over the world for their outstanding wines and picturesque landscapes. Still quite unknown is the winegrowing region of Lisbon, which stretches northwest from Portugal's capital to the Atlantic Ocean.
The tour starts in Lisbon and leads along the River Tejo to the mouth of the Atlantic Ocean. Passing by the fashionable little town of Estoril, the tour continues to Cascais. This coastal town is still a very popular destination for a beach trip with its picturesque city center and noble buildings. After a short guided tour, your journey continues to Colares, with a side trip to the most western point of continental Europe, the Cabo da Roca. In Colares you will visit one of the traditional wineries of the region, still housed in historic premises, and you will taste the wines produced there. Just a few minutes away is the beach of Praia das Macas, popular with the locals in Lisbon. Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch with local specialities overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
The tour continues towards Mafra to one of the youngest wineries in Portugal. Situated in a small village, wines of the highest quality are produced here. The tour of the estate also includes a visit to the small museum and a tasting of six exceptional wines. After about half an hour's drive, you reach one of the region's major producers. This modern winery is situated on a hill in a beautiful landscape with fascinating architecture. After a tour through the stylish building, you will taste selected wines before driving back to Lisbon.
