Learn the culture of the Batak tribe of Puerto Princesa, who are among the smallest groups of indigenous people in the Philippines.
Be picked up for your hotel in the morning and travel about 70 kilometers out of Puerto Princesa. Arrive at the Batak Visitor Center, which is located in Barangay Conception. At the Visitor Center, you will find various local products made by the tribe available for purchase.
From the Visitor Center, trek across mountainous terrain and cross some rivers to reach the village of the Batak people. The hiking time is anywhere from 75 to 120 minutes, depending on the pace of the group. Upon reaching the village, join in presenting a token gift to the tribe which contains coffee, rice, sugar, and other basic needs. Say hello to the tribe members and see how they go about their daily lives. Your guide will provide information about the history of the tribe and their customs.
Afterwards, head back down to the Visitor Center and you'll be driven back to your hotel in Puerto Princesa. An option to include lunch in this activity is also available.
