Embark on a 4-day adventure to the remote village of Buscalan, where you’ll meet Apo Whang-Od, the last traditional Kalinga tattoo artist. Experience the rich culture of the Butbut tribe and, if you wish, receive a tattoo from Apo herself or her trained successors. Then, travel to the serene town of Sagada, famous for its hanging coffins, caves, and scenic views.
Day 1: Manila to Buscalan
Depart from Manila in the evening and travel overnight in a comfortable, air-conditioned van. Arrive in Buscalan by morning and get ready for the 45-minute hike to the village through scenic mountain landscapes. Check-in at a local homestay and settle in. Meet Apo Whang-Od, the legendary tattoo artist. You may choose to get a traditional tattoo from Apo or her apprentices (tattoo fee not included).
Day 2: Buscalan to Sagada
After breakfast, explore the village and meet the locals. If you haven't gotten a tattoo yet, now’s your chance. In the midday, depart to Sagada. Enjoy a scenic drive through the mountains on your way to Sagada. Check-in at your Sagada accommodation and relax. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant featuring Sagada’s delicacies.
Day 3: Sagada Full-Day Tour
Start your day with a short trek to see the hanging coffins, a unique burial tradition. Explore the beautiful Sumaguing Cave filled with impressive rock formations. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Have a free afternoon to visit Bomod-ok Falls or relax in town. For early risers, catch the stunning sunrise at Kiltepan Viewpoint.
Day 4: Departure to Manila
Have breakfast at your accommodation. Enjoy free time in the morning to explore more of Sagada or do some last-minute souvenir shopping. Check out and begin the journey back to Manila. Estimated arrival in Manila by evening.

Tattoos by Apo Whang-Od or her apprentices start at PHP 150, with final pricing depending on the size and design. Apo Whang-Od’s signature tattoos may vary in cost.
In Buscalan, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included, offering authentic local dishes for you to enjoy. However, you will need to cover the cost of your meals in Sagada, as well as any meals not listed in the itinerary, giving you the opportunity to try additional local delicacies.
Make sure to bring cash, as payments are made directly to the tattoo artist. Keep in mind that Buscalan does not have ATMs, and Sagada has only one.
Typically, a white Hi-Ace van is used for transport, but the specific pick-up vehicle will be confirmed and sent within 24 hours after booking.
