Puerto Maldonado: Tambopata Rainforest Excursion in 4 days

DAY 1: WELCOME TO PUERTO MALDONADO - WALK THROUGH THE RESERVE - OBSERVATION TOWER

Welcome to Puerto Maldonado, Biodiversity Capital of Peru.

Upon arrival in the capital of Madre de Dios, a representative of the Peru VIP Travel team will give you a warm welcome at the airport. We will start traveling for approximately one hour to our private port.

Here we will board the boat and begin our journey through the waters of the Tambopata River. Along the way we will enjoy a tasting of Amazonian gastronomy while observing unique landscapes. Upon arrival at the Amazonian lodge, located in the middle of a chestnut forest, we will receive a welcome, then you can settle into your room and have time to relax.

In the afternoon we will hike up to the 35-meter high canopy tower, from where we will contemplate the impressive forest of the Tambopata Reserve and some species of birds such as toucans, macaws and birds of prey among others.


DAY 2: TRES CHIMBADAS LAGOON - ÑAPE CENTER

This day we will take advantage of the first light of day, and embark on an excursion in search of wildlife in the Amazon. We will enjoy breakfast surrounded by nature.

We will continue visiting the Tres Chimbadas lagoon, paddling around the lake in a catamaran in search of giant river otters, caimans, hoatzin and horned screamers.

In the afternoon we will visit the Ñape Center, an organization that produces medicines from forest plants, we will learn about their uses and generalities.

At the end of the day we will go on a night walk, a unique experience.


DAY 3: PARROT CLAY LICK - CEIBA - COMMUNITY VISIT

After enjoying a traditional breakfast, we will embark on an exciting excursion. Very close to the lodge there is a hide from where we will see the Parrot Clay Lick, where dozens of parrots and parakeets descend in the mornings.

We will continue our walk until we reach a “Ceiba” tree, this is a specimen that will surprise you just by seeing it, it is a spectacle because of its large diameter.

In the afternoon we will visit the farm of a neighbor, here we will see up close the daily life of the people of the community, as well as the variety of fruits that are grown.


DAY 4: FAREWELL - RETURN HOME

After enjoying a comforting breakfast and saying goodbye to all our work team, it is time to say goodbye.

We will board the boat back to the city of Puerto Maldonado, where we will be transferred to the airport to board our flight back home.
