From Cusco: Full Day tour to Rainbow mountain and Red Valley

Early Pick-up: The tour typically starts very early in the morning, usually around 3-4 AM, with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco or a designated meeting point. This early start is to ensure you reach the Rainbow Mountain area early and avoid crowds, especially during peak tourist seasons.

Travel to Rainbow Mountain: The journey from Cusco to Cusipata Town takes approximately 1.5 hours by van, here, you can have an andean breakfast. After breakfast You will travel around 1 hour untill the base camp. The route often passes through picturesque Andean landscapes and small villages, offering glimpses of rural Peruvian life.

Base Camp: Upon arrival at the trailhead, you'll stop at a base camp where you can acclimatize to the high altitude, which is around 5,200 meters (17,060 feet) above sea level.

Hike to Rainbow Mountain: The hike to the viewpoint of Rainbow Mountain usually takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace and fitness level. The trail can be challenging due to the altitude and steep sections, so it’s important to take it slow, stay hydrated, and take breaks as needed.

Viewpoint: Upon reaching the viewpoint, you'll be treated to awe-inspiring views of Rainbow Mountain and its vibrant, multicolored striped slopes. These colors are caused by mineral deposits in the area, creating a surreal and almost otherworldly landscape. You'll have time to take photos, relax, and enjoy the natural beauty surrounding you.

Red Valley (Valle Rojo): this tour offer an optional extension to Red Valley, which is located near Rainbow Mountain. Red Valley is known for its striking red rock formations, contrasting beautifully with the green Andean landscapes. The hike to Red Valley is less crowded than Rainbow Mountain but equally stunning, making it a worthwhile addition to your tour if time and conditions permit.

Descent and Lunch: After exploring Rainbow Mountain and possibly Red Valley, you'll descend back to the base camp where you will take the van to go back to Cusipata Town for lunch.

Return to Cusco: The return journey to Cusco takes 2 hours aproximatly. You'll typically arrive back in Cusco in the afternoon, depending on traffic and weather conditions.
