Embark on a 2-day trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Hike through the Andes and explore the ancient ruins of Chachabamba and Wiñaywayna. Spend the night in a comfortable hotel and explore the Lost City of the Incas with a guide.
Day 1: Cusco – Chachabamba – Wiñaywayna – Machu Picchu
Begin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco and head to the train station in Poroy or Ollantaytambo. Board the train and travel along the Urubamba River to the 104-kilometer mark of the Inca Trail.
Cross a bridge and begin your hike at the Chachabamba archaeological site. Climb for 4 hours to reach the Wiñaywayna archaeological site. Pass through a chain of ceremonial baths and a platform. Continue through a lush tropical forest filled with giant ferns and a variety of plants.
Arrive at the Inti Punku or Sun Gate and take in the breathtaking views of the natural beauty of the area. Cross the final stretch of the trail to reach the heart of Machu Picchu. Take a bus to the town of Machu Picchu and check into your hotel.
Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Cusco
Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before taking a bus to the Machu Picchu archaeological site. Explore the city with a guide and see the recintos, plazas, fountains, sacred temples, and urban and agricultural sectors.
After your guided tour, enjoy free time to explore the site on your own. If you have booked in advance, you can climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. After your visit, return to Aguas Calientes for lunch and board the train back to Cusco. Arrive back in Cusco and be dropped off at your hotel.
