Embark on a full-day guided tour to Rainbow Mountain from Cusco. Enjoy a delicious breakfast and lunch, and take in the breathtaking views of the ancient Ausangate and the Rainbow Mountain.
Start your adventure early when your guide picks you up from your hoste or meeting point from 3:30 to 4:00 am approximetely. After a 2-hour drive, arrive at Cusipata, where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast and take a moment to stretch your legs and snap some photos. There’s a small shop where you can purchase snacks or water before embarking on your hike to Rainbow Mountain.
Continue on to the starting point. Your guide will take care of all the arrangements before you begin your hike. The trek to the famous Rainbow Mountain covers 2.1 miles (3.5 km). The trail starts with an uphill climb, followed by some flat sections and gentle rises leading you to Rainbow Mountain, which sits at an elevation of 17,125 feet (5,220 meters).
Here, you’ll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the ancient Ausangate Valleys and may even spot wild llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas along the way. After taking in the stunning scenery, return the same way you came or as optional return by the self-guided Red Valley.
Then, board the bus for the ride back to the restaurant. Once you arrive back in Cusipata, enjoy lunch before taking transportation back to central Cusco, where you’ll be dropped off near the Plaza de Armas at 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

• Pickup service is included. it start 3:30 to 4:00am. It can take 30 to 45 minutes to pick up the group. If you are one of the first ones to be picked up, it might take some time to collect the entire group
• Extra expenses like entrance fees, water, souvenir and others are only available to pay with cash and soles
• Climb 1.9 miles (3.5 km) to reach the top of Rainbow Mountain
• Bring an extra warm sweater, jacket, hat, and gloves
• If for any reason you rent a horse or bike, the local partner doesn't manage these rentals and won't be involved in the process
• Sunglasses are mandatory to use throughout the hike
• The local partner is not responsible for the change of weather conditions; choose the best day of departure based on research
• The dirt road is not in the best conditions; the drive can produce altitude sickness. It's recommended to bring personal medicine or altitude pills
• Everyone walks at different speeds. The guide will be in different parts assisting the group
Pick-up available at downtown hotels in Cusco. Please indicate if you are staying at a private accommodation (with address and phone number), you will then be provided with a meeting point close by.
