Cusco: 2-Day Tour to Humantay Lake and Machu Picchu

Enjoy a journey between the magical Salkantay Mountain, the Humantay Lagoon and the amazing paradise of Machu Picchu. Enjoy the mountains and the tropical forest of Aguas Calientes on a 2-day tour.
ITINERARY
DAY 1: Cusco, Humantay Lake and Aguas Calientes

We will pick you up between 4:30 and 5:00 in the morning at the meeting point in Cusco. From there you will drive for 2 hours to Mollepata for breakfast, and then another 1 hour to the starting point in Soraypampa. Once there, you will begin the hike to Humantay Lagoon, where after spending some time exploring, you will descend to Soraypampa before continuing your journey to Mollepata. Once there, you will enjoy a delicious lunch cooked by your chef.

After lunch, you will continue by van for 3.5 hours to Ollantaytambo. In Ollantaytambo you will take the train to Aguas Calientes, where once you arrive your transfer will be waiting for you at the train station to take you. Afterwards you will have free time to explore the city, before retiring for the night.

DAY 2: Machu Picchu and Cusco

You will wake up early in the morning to catch the bus to Machu Picchu. After a journey of approximately 30 minutes, you will arrive at the gates of the site. Once you have arrived at Machu Picchu, you will meet your tour guide to begin the visit. Your guide will explain and instruct you on the function, history and construction of the area, and once you have finished enjoying this famous and sacred place, you will travel back to Aguas Calientes by bus.

You will then have time to visit and explore the town of Aguas Calientes, and potentially also explore some neighbouring hot springs. There are also many restaurants, hotels and bars, where you can relax during the afternoon before boarding your respective train. In the early afternoon you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo, before being transferred back to Cusco.
