Arequipa: Excursion to the Chachani volcano |2-day|

Itinerary

Day 1

We will pick you up at 7:30 am from your hotel in Arequipa in a 4x4 to embark on a most exciting excursion. Are you ready for a real adventure? At 10:00 am we will arrive at Pampa Cañahuas, located behind the Chachani volcano. At this point we will prepare ourselves while the guide gives us some basic recommendations.

We will begin the ascent on foot for two hours, with gradual climbs of low intensity until we reach the base camp located at 5200 meters above sea level. Here we will set up our tents and then have a lunch of soup and pastries or preserves.

When night falls, we will drink an infusion and go to sleep.

Day 2

The second day will begin at 2:00 a.m. After preparing for the adventure again and checking that everything is ready to continue, we will have a delicious breakfast to warm up. Then comes the highlight: the climb to the top of the Chachani volcano.

If the weather is good, we will reach the summit of Chachani after an intense walk at around 5:00 am. Once there, you will have free time to regain your strength and admire the fabulous view of the volcanoes that surround the area: Coropuna, the snowy peaks of Ampato, Hualca Hualca, the active Sabancaya, Misti and Ubinas.

After this stop, we will descend towards the base camp. While we are descending we will make several stops along the way to rest. Once we reach the starting point, the 4x4 will be waiting for us to take us back to Arequipa. We will drop you off at your hotels at around 7:00 p.m.

This two-day tour includes one night's accommodation and breakfast in tents.
