Salalah: Splendours of the East Half Day Tour

See the true splendours of the East on a half day tour to Taqa village, Khor Rori, and Mirbat. Visit ancient villages, ruins, and immerse yourself in Eastern tradition.
Drive east and head towards Taqa, where on the way you will pass by the Royal Farm and Marmura House. Visit Taqa village, known for its dried sardines and its traditional and old Dhofari houses. From here, you will be able to get a glimpse into the rich history of the area and see an interesting castle which was once the official residence of the Governor of the village. 

Then, see the ruins of Sumhurum (Khor Rori) at the eastern-most outpost of the Hadramawt Kingdom on the ancient incense route between the Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf, and India. Khor Rori was an important port on the coast of Dhofar, and one of the major trading cities with frankincense, believed to have been the hub and harbour for the shipping of Frankincense. 

Afterwards, drive along the coastal roads which will lead you to Mirbat, the old city of Arabian horses and the slave trade. Stop for a photo at the Bin Ali tomb, pass by Mirbat Castle and the Old Merchant Houses, then head to Salalah.

Finally, stop at the natural spring of Ain Razat located at the foot of the Qara mountains.
