Begin your journey with a visit to the largest hot water lake in Rotorua. It is a remarkable introduction to the geothermal environment, providing an understanding of what lies beneath and above the surface. Then move on to Rainbow Mountain, where you will walk through a native forest that shows amazing geothermal vegetation found only in this area before arriving at the beautifully coloured crater lake.
Continuing the adventure, a short drive later, you reach a huge mud pool, the largest and most active in the region. Witness as steam and gases rise through the pool, creating bubbles of mud that form and burst on the surface.
The next destination is Te Manaroa Spring, a short walk will lead you to Rotorua's largest hot water spring, where boiling water surges from the depths, surrounded by beautiful vegetation.
