Begin your tour with a visit to the Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple. Perched on a hill, it is one of the oldest religious sites in Nepal. As you ride up, see a panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley. Upon reaching the site, notice the iconic stupa, decorated with prayer flags and the eyes of Buddha.

Next, visit the bustling historical square of Kathmandu Durbar Square, known for its exquisite architecture, ancient temples, and the palace complex. Visit the Kumari Ghar (House of the Living Goddess), explore temples like Kasthamandap, Taleju Temple, and the unique Maju Dega, and learn about Nepalese history at the old Royal Palace (Hanuman Dhoka).

Continue to the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, located by the banks of the sacred Bagmati River. Although non-Hindus aren’t allowed inside the main temple, there’s plenty to see in the surrounding area. Observe the temple’s pagoda architecture and intricate woodwork. Walk along the riverbank to see traditional Hindu cremation ceremonies and explore nearby smaller shrines and temples.

Visit the Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest spherical stupas in the world and an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists, especially Tibetan Buddhists. Walk around the stupa in a clockwise direction, joining other pilgrims in the kora ritual. Visit nearby monasteries and try traditional Tibetan tea. Take in the peaceful atmosphere as prayer flags flutter above.

Finally, visit the Patan Durbar Square, located in the city of Lalitpur, showcasing the Newar artistry and architecture. It is a stunning example of a medieval square with temples, courtyards, and royal buildings. See the Krishna Mandir with its intricate stone carvings, visit the Patan Museum, which offers insights into Nepalese history and culture, and wander through the quiet courtyards filled with statues, carvings, and beautiful woodwork.
