Day - Hike from Changunarayan to Nagarkot

A walking day tour on the outskirts of the Kathmandu valley, Nepal in which you will encounter quaint villages, lush forests and breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
After being picked up from your hotel, you will embark on an hour drive to Changunarayan, the oldest temple in Kathmandu Valley. The major attractions of the temple are the statue of Lord Vishnu (with ten heads and ten arms) and the sculpture of Lord Vishnu seated on Garuda (Garudasana Vishnu), an image of which appears on the Nepalese 10 rupee note.

You will take an early breakfast in Kathmandu, before driving to the Changu Narayan Temple where you will spend about half an hour before starting your day hike. The Changu Narayan Temple, the oldest temple in Kathmandu valley, came into existence in the early 4th century. The temple is decorated with some of the rarest kinds of stone, wood, and metal crafted in the valley. It also stands as the epicenter of culture, religion, history and faith of the entire Kathmandu Valley.

Four to five hours of trekking from the Changunarayan Temple will bring you up to the scenic Nagarkot (2,200 meters, 7,200 feet). It's a unique and relatively adventurous trek, and is considered to be the most scenic spot and for spectacular sunrise and sunset views. From this site, many of the Himalayan peaks including Annapurna in the west and Kanchenjunga in the east can be observed. If you are fortunate enough to have clear weather, even Mount Everest can be seen. It also offers an excellent views of Mount Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang as well as the Indrawati river valley in the east.

On the way back visit Bhaktapur Darbar Square
The main square of the city contains innumerable temples and other architectural showpieces like the lion gate, the statue of King Bhupatindra Malla, the picture gallery, the golden gate, the palace of 55 windows, the batsala temple and the bell of barking dogs, etc. The statue of the King Bhupatindra Malla in the act of worship is placed on a column facing the palace of the many statues available in Nepal this is considered to be the most magnificent.
