Explore rural Oaxaca by bike! Ride through villages, challenging hills, and enjoy a delicious Oaxacan lunch by the river.
We can start the tour in Santa María Atzompa or Monte Alban (30 min. drive from the city). Most of the time we will ride among farming lands and through some villages where you can get a glimpse of the day-to-day life of the rural Oaxaca. Eventually we will leave the villages behind and will start climbing some challenging hills; the views from the top are well worth the effort.
After a short break at the top of the last climb of this section, we will descent 2 kilometers to the small village of Jalapa del Valle, from there, we will ride uphill alongside a small river that runs between two mountains towards the lunch venue. We will eat by the river in a local restaurant that offers Oaxacan food prepared with fresh organic ingredients. After lunch we will prepare our departure to Oaxaca city.
If you feel like riding more after lunch, it is possible to return to the city by bike. First, we will climb a steep hill that will be the biggest challenge on the way back, once we’ve reached the top, we will ride a fun descent with a beautiful view. The rest of the ride is done on paved roads that will take us back to the city.
