Experience Mexican food like never before with a market tour and cooking class! Learn about the ancient and colonial roots of the dishes you love, prepare them from scratch and feast like an emperor!
Understand and enjoy Mexican cuisine more than ever with this market tour and cooking class!
On your ninety-minute tour of Roma's Mercado Medellín, you'll learn how ancient Mesoamerican ingredients and techniques shape the Mexican dishes we know today, and why the Spanish conquest of the country in the 16th century lead to an explosion of culinary creativity on both sides of the Atlantic.
Then, back at the beautiful Condesa home of your chef/ guide, you'll prepare your favourite foods from fresh ingredients and with expert guidance. Prepare to get your hands dirty, as over around three hours, you'll be making tamales, mole and tortillas, all from scratch! Dietary requirements will be accommodated, and small-brand Mexican beer and soft drinks will keep you hydrated.
Finally, you'll enjoy the delicious fruits of your labour at a picture-perfect table laid with local linens and artisanal tableware. Reflect on the day's experience over dessert and finish with a cup of Mexican wine and/ or mezcal.

Wheelchair users are welcome in my apartment, but the building in which the class will take place does not have an elevator.
Please keep an eye on your email inbox after booking the experience, as I'll be in touch to ask you about your menu. This is especially important if you have any dietary requirements. Most of these can be accommodated for, although unfortunately strict Kosher is not possible at this time.
On the day, eat a good breakfast, as we'll be on our feet for a few hours, and are likely to eat after 2PM.
